Taiwan is an immigrant society where religious belief is deeply embedded in people’s daily life. Certain people are madly devout to such an extent that social events related to religious groups appear from time to time in the news. This documentary records how the artist, HSU Ching-Yuan, and his team created a seaside venue for the religious rally of an emerging religion, and recorded the whole process with a large 4x5 camera. It’s both absurd and realistic at the same time.
On the occasion of his participation at Photo London Digital hosted by Artsy from 7 to 18 October 2020, this documentary will be exceptionally visionnable during the fair, as to demonstrate the complet creative process of the work exhibited : Shapes of Existence #119, 2018.
